How Much Does a Small Business Website Cost in 2026? (USA Price Guide)

What a small business website really costs in the USA in 2026: DIY, freelancer, agency and fixed-price options, plus the yearly costs for domain, hosting and email.

By the Tuncer Technologies team ·

If you have asked three web designers for a quote, you have probably heard three very different numbers. One says a few hundred dollars. Another says five thousand. A third will not give a number until after a "discovery call."

This guide explains where those numbers come from, what you actually pay for, and how to set a sensible budget for a small business website in the United States in 2026. At the end you will find our own fixed prices, so you can compare them with everything else.

The short answer

For a typical small business (a local service company, a clinic, a restaurant, a contractor, a shop), a simple and professional website usually costs:

  • DIY website builder: your time, plus roughly USD 15 to 50 a month in subscriptions.
  • Freelancer: commonly quoted between USD 500 and 3,000 for a 1 to 5 page site.
  • Small agency: often USD 3,000 to 10,000 or more, depending on design work, copywriting and features.
  • Fixed-price package: a defined scope at a published price, often a few hundred dollars for a starter site.

These are ranges you will see quoted across the U.S. market, not fixed rules. The real cost depends on what you need the site to do.

On top of the build, every website has running costs: a domain name, hosting and usually business email. Those are yearly or monthly bills, and many quotes leave them out.

What you are really paying for

A website price is the sum of a few clear parts. Once you know them, quotes become easier to compare.

1. Design and build

This is the work of turning your content into pages. The number of pages matters most. A one-page site with your services, photos, opening hours and a contact form is a very different job from a 20-page site with a blog, booking system and online store.

2. Content

Who writes the text and supplies the photos? If the designer writes your copy, takes photos or creates a logo, expect the price to go up. Most fixed-price packages, including ours, assume you supply your own text, images and logo.

3. Features

Contact forms are standard. Online booking, payments, a members' area, a product catalog or integrations with other software add cost because they add build and testing time.

4. Domain name

Your address on the internet, such as yourbusiness.com. A .com domain is a yearly cost. It should be registered in your name, not the designer's, so you keep control of it.

5. Hosting

The server that keeps your website online. Shared hosting for a small business site is usually billed monthly or yearly. Our own hosting plans start at USD 4.24 a month billed yearly (USD 50.90 a year on the Starter plan), or USD 4.99 month to month.

6. Business email

An address like hello@yourbusiness.com looks far more trustworthy than a free webmail address. Some hosting plans include mailboxes. Others use a separate mailbox provider with its own monthly fee.

7. Ongoing changes and care

Updates, security patches, backups and small edits. Some businesses pay a monthly care plan. Others pay per change.

Why quotes vary so much

Two quotes for "a website" can describe completely different projects. Before you compare prices, check these five things:

  1. Page count. Is it 1 page, 5 pages or 15?
  2. Revisions. How many rounds of changes are included?
  3. Who owns the domain and hosting account. Always ask.
  4. What happens after year one. Renewal prices for domain and hosting should be stated up front.
  5. Timeline. A fixed delivery window (for example, 5 to 7 days) tells you the scope is well defined.

A low quote with no written scope can end up costing more than a higher quote with everything spelled out. The most expensive website is the one you have to rebuild because you never got the logins.

A sensible 2026 budget for a U.S. small business

Here is a simple way to think about it:

  • You just need to be found and contacted: a one-page site with a contact form, a .com domain and hosting. This is the starting point for most service businesses.
  • You want to look established: a one-page or small site plus business email on your own domain, and a speed and SEO check so Google can index it properly.
  • You compete in a busy local market: a 5-page site (home, services, about, reviews or gallery, contact), business email, and speed and SEO work from day one.

Start with what brings you customers today. You can add pages, booking or a store later.

FAQ

What is the cheapest way to get a professional small business website?

A one-page site with a contact form on your own .com domain is the lowest-cost option that still looks professional. Our Starter Online package bundles the page, domain and first year of hosting for USD 229.

Are domain and hosting included in a website price?

Often they are not, so ask. In our packages B03, B04 and B05, the first year of a .com domain and hosting is included. After year one they renew at the normal yearly price, with notice.

How long does it take to build a small business website?

A one-page site can be ready in about 5 to 7 days once you send your content. A 5-page site usually takes 2 to 3 weeks.

Do I need to pay monthly for a website?

You will have running costs for hosting and the domain, billed monthly or yearly. The website build itself is a one-time project fee in our packages.

Can I start small and add pages later?

Yes. Many businesses start with Starter Online and move to a 5-page site or add booking later. Your domain and hosting stay the same.

Do you promise Google rankings?

No honest provider can promise rankings. What we do is set up the technical basics (speed, page titles, sitemap, indexing) so Google can find and understand your site.
